bio

Karen Quiles is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with a specialty in EMDR-Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing to treat Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), relational conflict, anxiety, and cultural identity concerns. She brings over 12 years of experience to her work with adults, teenagers, parents, and families in both community and school based settings. Karen has experience with diverse populations ranging from the homeless, teenagers involved in the juvenile justice system, chronically ill, and individuals struggling with traumatic childhood experiences. As a second generation social worker she has a belief that people need to feel heard in order to truly heal.

Karen believes in the philosophy of building on individual strengths to cultivate the change needed to start the healing process. She is passionate about multi-cultural and trauma related issues due to her own experiences with insecurities with cultural identification and experiencing difficult life experiences and transitions. Her style of therapy is caring, culturally-sensitive, direct, and nurturing. She will challenge you to be more present in the moment using mindful “check ins” during sessions. She enjoys seeing people recognize their own roadblocks and recognizing what they need to change.
